Inside the Machine: Computer & Networking Hardware

What powers the digital world around us? In this hands-on course, students get a deep dive into the components that make up a computer—from CPUs and GPUs to RAM, motherboards, and SSDs. You’ll learn what each part does, where it’s made, and what’s happening at the cutting edge of hardware development. The teacher has years of hands-on experience building and repairing PCs, and if desired, you can assemble or upgrade your own system during the course. The second part of the class explores network infrastructure: from home routers and firewalls to enterprise-level data centers and the global internet backbone.
